"My Safe Place." When I got this weeks Illustration Friday topic 'safe', this was the image that came into my head. I wanted to show a home, as this is the safest place for me. It's not me though, coz I don't have a cat.. or a magazine holder! The paint in the background is quite textured.. I built it up with layers of acrylic paint. This is probably the most time I've spent so far on an Illustration Friday topic.

lovely painting, i like your style! very creatuve. btw, your babushka dolls is hilarious! :-)
I thought about painting me at home with my animals around me (I have two cats AND a dog). It seemed to complicated for me to do, but you've captured it well. I do feel incredibly safe with my furry sentinels around me. They hear things I don't hear and care for me in an uncononditional way that is unparalleled.
Great illustration!
Oof. I meant "too" complicated. I hate spelling mistakes. So sorry I left one on your blog! :)
I am going to take your concept and see what comes out of my pencils and brushes. Isn't it funny how sometimes our tools know what we want better than our conscious selves. Please let us know when your cat comes to you.
i love the detail and how unique it is. can't stop looking at it!
Wow...I really like your quirky, whimsical style. I'll look for more of your work on future IFs.
Beautiful painting and it fits the topic!
Always love your work!
Excellent illo! Great details and fun!
what a great illo. fun!!!
Cute!
cool - I really like the surreal trees and mushrooms (mushrooms?)
love your style as always. Beautiful colors and nice concept.
Ah, its a mush-room! (My english is not thet good, so i don't know if mush means anything, i hope i didnt say something stupid or offensive..) Nice picture! About the cat : You really should get one, they are so great :-)
ah, no cats in this house I'm afraid! Not with two big dogs!! And, um, yes I guess they are mushies, tree mushrooms maybe. I used to pick mushrooms for a job. Did you know the stems with the dirt and stuff we cut off them were called "chog." Hence our bins that the chog went into were "chog bins." If you needed something new to learn today then that may just be it!
